OFD Philanthropy

The Oaklyn Fire Department recently participated in two events for great causes. Read more about these events below, and check out a few pictures from the events in our photo gallery.

First up, on Saturday, March 19th, several OFD members participated in the American Lung Association's Fight For Air Climb in Philadelphia. The event raises money to help the American Lung Association improve lung health and prevent lung disease. In addition to the many individuals participating in the event, a number of firefighters, police officers, and other first responders from around the Philadelphia and South Jersey area turned out to climb 50 stories worth of stairs, and OFD was proud to be a part of the event.

The next day, members of the Oaklyn Fire Department joined other area firefighters and members of the community at the local St. Baldrick's event in Collingswood. The OFD members helped raise money to find a cure for childhood cancers, and also had their heads shaved in a show of solidarity with children who have cancer. OFD was honored to participate in this year's St. Baldrick's event, and we are already looking forward to next year's event.

Spring Cleaning & Fire Prevention

During this time of year, many of us are doing a little bit of spring cleaning, which is also an excellent opportunity to eliminate fire hazards from our homes. As you clean your house, keep an eye out for any hazardous materials or dangerous conditions, and take steps to remedy these situations as soon as possible. Also be sure to check and replace the batteries in all of your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Doing so will protect you, your family, and your property.
